project 3
artist statement: my original idea for this project was to do a photo collage of images i had taken at a previous time. i wanted to take images of different landscapes and compile them to create one new, unique piece. after many attempts to accomplish this idea, i decided to create a stereotypical panoramic landscape and turn it into something completely different. while still technically remaining a landscape, my new piece speaks to the ways in which common photographs can be altered for a dramatic effect.

I saw a quick preview of this on Tuesday in class. While it isn't 40" panoramic, it is still (if not more) visually interesting.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the color image, but only the left half. Something about the inward orientation of the buildings speaks more to an idea of city that the outer one. As if a viewer is standing in the middle of a city looking to the sky. The other half of the image has a really strange effect--and, to me, is more stagnant.
Ive gotta agree with Dave- i think the buildings spiraling out might be interesting in a 3D space but its not nearly as dynamic compositionally. I feel like the inward spiral places the viewer inside the space, literally being surrounded by the buildings
ReplyDeleteI definitely prefer the color round image - it makes me feel like I'm looking up in the city with all the tall buildings leaning over me. I wonder how a sky in the middle would change the image? I think it would be great to print it on a square sheet of paper.
