project 3

artist statement: my original idea for this project was to do a photo collage of images i had taken at a previous time. i wanted to take images of different landscapes and compile them to create one new, unique piece. after many attempts to accomplish this idea, i decided to create a stereotypical panoramic landscape and turn it into something completely different. while still technically remaining a landscape, my new piece speaks to the ways in which common photographs can be altered for a dramatic effect.

project 2

artist statement: for the infinite print, i wanted to do something simple, as well as something that would further the overall idea of the art being something that we would send to people. i chose to create an alternate to an anti-war poster by creating a postcard for peace. i kept it simple by using black and white only so that anyone, no matter what kind of home or professional printer they had, could print it and it would always look exactly the same. i chose to create a postcard to really push that idea of being able to distribute our infinite prints to the masses.

project 1

artist statement for manipulation project: when i think of manipulation in terms of art, i usually think about an image that has been altered to change the initial reaction of the viewer. after thinking manipulation over more fully, i decided to go about it differently for this specific project. i started with an image taken with a holga camera, changed the saturation etc in photoshop and framed the image to look like it was fading into black. i then screen printed text and design that relate to the image.
